Ben Cluver
Project: Ben is studying the evolutionary history of the POU transcription factor family in vertebrates and their roles in specifying ectoderm to neuronal, placodal, or neural crest lineages during zebrafish gastrulation.
About me: Hello, I am Ben, a senior biology major with an environmental science minor. I am working on characterizing previously unstudied POU transcription factors in zebrafish. After graduating I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in evolutionary ecology. When I am not working I like to go rock climbing, run, play my trumpet or sit in a hammock and read. |
Abby Schlotterbeck
Project: Abby is studying the role of cdon and boc in tendon and joint formation during zebrafish craniofacial development.
About me: Hi I'm Abby! I work on the role of cdon and boc in zebrafish craniofacial development and my favorite part of lab is making and running gels! I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Genetics and work on human genetic diseases. When I'm not in the lab, you can find me playing with my cat, Siren, or fencing with my team. I really love reading, crocheting, and baking - any sort of creative interest is interesting to me! |
Emma Fidacaro
Project: Emma is working with Erica to design microsatellite markers to study extra pair paternity in House Sparrow. This project is part of collaboration with the Butler Laboratory.
About me: Hi I'm Emma! I'm a junior biology major with an A&S minor. I am working on identifying the rate of extra-pair paternity in Lafayette's population of House Sparrows. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in genetics and study human diseases or cancer. Outside of the lab, I like to grab coffee with my friends or my DG sisters, workout, and paint my nails. |
Melinda Ramovic
Project: Melinda is studying the role of Pou4f4 and Prdm1a in Rohon-Beard development. She is particularly interested in mathematics and exploring whether mathematical models can help us understand fate decisions.
|
Ryan Nickens
Project: Ryan is working on the role of the genes cdon and boc in zebrafish craniofacial development.
About me: Hello, I'm Ryan, a sophomore Biology Major. I am not certain about my future career plans, but I do intend for it to include research. When I'm not working, I like to play soccer, board games, hike, or find a good movie or TV show to watch. |
Erica Albertson
Project: Erica is working with Emma to design microsatellite markers to study extra pair paternity in House Sparrow. This project is part of collaboration with the Butler Laboratory.
|
Hazel Yang
Project: Hazel is helping to develop new transgenic zebrafish lines for the lab.
|
Sakhi Naik
Project: Sakhi is using CUT&RUN to identify cis-regulatory elements associated with differentiation of neural crest, Rohon-Beard, and placodal lineages during zebrafish gastrulation.
